What is Back School?

  • Back school teaches patients how to take care of their back and prevent future episodes of low back pain.
  • This is a 2 hour class offered monthly.
  • Currently offered the 1st Wednesday of the month from 5-7PM.
  • Class is taught at the clinic, 490 W. El Camino Real, Mountain View.
  • Back pain is most commonly due to the effects of cumulative trauma. It is imperative for patients to learn how to decrease the accumulation of micro-trauma to their back, thus decreasing repeat injuries.
  • Back school is a cost effective way of treating patients with early stages of back pain.
  • Patients who are appropriate for referral would include anyone who is presently complaining of low back pain, or has had recurrent problems with their low back in the past.
  • Back school can also be a valuable adjunct to treating patients who are already being seen in physical therapy for back pain.
  • For fees, please contact Mountain View PT staff at 650-961-7370.
  • All patients are provided a booklet with review of class information, including pictures of proper body mechanics and exercise.
